Grantham Lions Club’s first ever female president has described accepting the position as a “great honour”.
Sandie Baker, 54, of Corby Glen, has taken over the role as president from Keith Dowsett.
She said: ‘It is a great honour to be elected as the first lady president. One of my priorities will be to encourage more women to become members.
“I shall also be supporting local cancer charities.”
Outgoing President Keith Dowsett said: “It has been a privilege to be the club’s president for the past year and to be actively involved within the town and the local community.
“I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to all those who have supported Grantham Lions in our activities. I have thoroughly enjoyed the year and I am pleased that Grantham Lions have been able to assist many organisations and individuals.”
