SCOUTS will be delivering Christmas cards in and around Grantham for their 18th year this Christmas.

The annual Christmas post scheme is a wonderful way for the scouting groups to raise funds, and also a useful and cheap service to card senders.

Scouts will deliver in the Grantham NG31 area, Barrowby, Harlaxton, Great Gonerby, Carlton Scroop, Normanton, Caythorpe and Ancaster only.

Since the scheme started in 1993, some 266,000 cards have been delivered, raising around £30,000 for local scouts.

Groups who deliver the cards receive 12.5p of the 20p paid for each stamp. The remainder goes towards district-wide projects.

Special ‘Scout Stamp’s will be available from Monday at Barrowby Gate Pharmacy in Winchester Road, Martins Newsagents in New Beacon Road, Melton Mowbray Building Society in High Street, G Skinner & Sons Butchers in Barrowby, Brewers Electrical in Greyfriars, Grantham Library, Gonerby Groceries, Day - Today News in Rushcliffe Road and A C Williams in Ancaster.

Stamps are only 20p each, except for large cards and calendars which will be 40p each. Deliveries will commence from the first week in December.
