Members of the Thames Road Social Club planted an apple tree in the centre’s communal garden to celebrate winning a gardening competition run by South Kesteven District Council.
The tree was planted by members of the gardening club and the judging panel for the competition.
The community centre was also lucky enough to receive £350 funding from Lincolnshire County Councillor Jo Churchill’s ‘Big Society Fund’ to replace old wooden fencing with new metal fencing, as part of an ongoing project. The fund must be used for community projects. The social club’s secretary applied for funding from the pot after reading an article about it in the Journal. The chairman of the social club, Bernard Hare, received the award from her in person.
