I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the family who helped me with my shopping when my bag broke the Saturday before Mother’s day.
I found myself at the Watergate traffic light island with flowers everywhere and far too much shopping to carry already, when the handles on one of my carrier bags broke!
I thought I was going to have to push my bags with my feet to get home to Redcross Street, when out of nowhere a lady was at my side checking to see if I was alright.
She said her husband had gone to look in their car for a bag for me.
In the mean time a young lad said he was going to the newsagents and he would get me a carrier bag. He got the bag and the lady and myself loaded my shopping into the new bag and I went on my way, albeit still struggling due to buying too much.
I crossed the road and then suddenly one of my bags had been taken out of my hand and the lovely lady from earlier said ‘come on, we’ll take you home’ and loaded my bags into the family car, despite my protests.
In reality, I have never been so grateful in my life.
I still wonder how long it would have taken me without the young lad and that wonderful family; the fact they took time out from their day to help me still surprises me.
Thank Heaven there are still some lovely people in this world to make up for all the awful ones you usually hear about!!
