A Grantham pub which prides itself on being part of the community has won our Best Bar 2014 competition.

Licensees John and Linda Senior are already celebrating this weekend having been in charge of the Dudley Road pub for four years.

Lynda said of the award: “It’s brilliant, marvellous. It’s all about community.”

John said: “It’s great for a back street pub to be recognised. We have loyal customers who come from all sides of Grantham. People are very generous. They support our charities. They are a great bunch.”

John and Lynda host comedienne and singer AJ tomorrow night (Saturday) to mark their four years at the pub.

Now there is cause for another celebration with their Best Bar award and they will be presented with a special trophy to mark their win.

The pub is well known for its real ales and holds real ale festivals during the year, the next one being in May.

The Blue Dog Inn, Sewstern, was second in the competition and Chameleon Music Bar and Steakhouse third.
