A MOTORIST was killed when his car left the A1 and struck a tree this morning (Friday).

Emergency services were called to the A1 northbound at Barrowby at about 8.50am, where they found the 63-year-old man from Allington with serious head injuries.

His red Jaguar XK8 had left the road and collided with a tree.

LIVES intially attended to the casualty, who was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The northbound carriageway of the A1 has now been re-opened following the accident.

Police are asking for witnesses to the collision to call 0300 111 0300 quoting incident number 77 of November 4.
