Motorists are being advised to avoid the A1 northbound near Stoke Rochford until later this evening after a lorry shed its load.
The lorry, which was carrying animal feed, shed the load at around 2pm this afternoon.
A clean up operation is underway and each lane of the northbound carriageway will be cleared in turn.
A police spokesman said: “The A1 at this location will remain open, but the lane closures will result in traffic congestion and delays, particularly during this busy Friday evening period. This is likely to go on for several hours.”
The road is not expected to fully re-open until at least 6.30pm.
Motorists are asked to try to avoid the route if possible.
