There are long delays to trains between London and Peterborough this afternoon, Tuesday March 29, after a man was hit and killed by a train.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “At approximately 2.50pm on Tuesday, 29 March officers from BTP were called to the line near Sandy station following reports that a person had been struck by a train.
“Colleagues from the East of England Ambulance Service also attended the scene where a man was pronounced dead.
“Officers are currently at the scene making enquiries and at this stage the man’s death is being treated as non-suspicious.”
This is causing disruption to journeys between London Kings Cross and Peterborough. This is expected to continue until 5pm.
Trains were unable to run between Peterborough and Stevenage but began again at around 4.30pm.
Routes affected are Grand Central between London Kings Cross and Bradford Interchange/Sunderland, Great Northern between London Kings Cross and Peterborough, Hull Trains between London Kings Cross and Hull and Virgin Trains East Coast between London Kings Cross and Leeds/York/Hull/Scotland.
