Another bridge strike has taken place in Grantham this afternoon, this time on Harlaxton Road.

Police were called to the incident at 3.10pm and initially shut the road while they awaited a safety inspection of the bridge.

The lorry which is registered to a Grantham owner has been destroyed in the collision, and a recovery vehicle has arrived on the scene.

The road is now open but still partially blocked with traffic moving very slowly though.

East Midlands Operational Support Service have also tweeted about the incident, stating: “Helped area officers & driver reported for various offences.”

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said the driver aged in their 60s have been summoned to court for the offences of driving without due care and attention and for not displaying the height limits in the cab.
