Update: Fire at Grantham firm Fruehauf destroyed 3,000 litres of paint thinner

Around 3,000 litres of paint thinner were damaged in the fire at HGV firm Fruehauf yesterday afternoon (Friday).

At its peak, five fire engines were at the site, in Houghton Road, Grantham, brought in from Grantham, Newark, Corby Glen, Sleaford and Billingborough.

The blaze was brought quickly under control and all fire appliances had left the scene by 7.30pm.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has since confirmed that there was fire damage to around 3,000 litres of paint thinner. Flames were extinguished using two main jets.

There were no injuries.

Durng the incident yesterday, residents in the surrounding area were told to keep their windows and doors shut as smoke billowed across the town.
