A BODY was found on the railway tracks just south of Grantham on Sunday night.
Services on the East Coast Main Line were halted at around 9pm after the discovery of the man’s body in Stoke Tunnel in the Great Ponton area.
British Transport Police is not treating the death as suspicious.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended and the body of a man was discovered. The man, believed to be 47-years-old and from Barrow-upon-Soar, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are currently ongoing to establish how the man came to be on the tracks.”
A file is now being prepared for the coroner.
Seven northbound and six southbound trains transporting around 1,800 people were affected by the incident.
The line was re-opened at 1.50am on Monday.
