POLICE negotiators are continuing to try to coax two men from rooftops in Grantham’s town centre.

The two men are on top of buildings in Narrow Westgate. Police have been forced to close the road, and Guildhall Street, as they continue to throw tiles, woods and coins towards passers-by.

Four men were on the rooftops initially, but two gave themselves up and have been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.

One of the two remaining men was reported to have fallen into the courtyard of Knightingales cafe in Guildhall Street. As police forced their way through a gate to reach him, he managed to clamber back on to the roof.

One man has been heard to ask a police negotiator for water as the negotiator attempts to coax him down to the ground.
