The Journal understands from reliable sources that the former Fenland Foods factory in Swingbridge Road, Grantham, has been bought by Oscar Mayer.
The firm produces ready meals, and is not associated with the business of the same name which forms part of America’s Kraft empire, as was previously thought.
Fenland Foods used to produce ready meals for Marks & Spencer but the chain’s withdrawal forced the closure of the site six years ago, with the loss of more than 700 jobs.
But now the arrival of another package food provider could see hundreds of jobs created.
Oscar Mayer has not yet released a statement on the move to Grantham.
