Grantham Canal Society has received a boost to its funds with a donation of £90 from the Vale of Belvoir Machinery Group.

The group raised the money by holding a vintage tractor run along a 20-mile route around the Vale of Belvoir earlier in the year. Canal society member Rosemary Gibson, pictured wearing traditional boatwoman costume, accepted the cheque from machinery group chairman Marcus Hardy, also pictured.

The canal society, which formed in 1969, said funds are urgently required to cover the installation costs of new bottom gates on Woolsthorpe Top Lock. Over the years, large areas of the canal between Grantham and Nottingham have been restored.
