More than 200 RAF Regiment veterans headed to Grantham – some from as far afield as Tasmania!
The new Rumours bar in Grantham Market Place hosted the 71st reunion of the RAF Regiment on Sunday following an invitation from Dean Ward and bar owner Paul Bunn.
Paul said: “It’s brilliant for us, over 200 people have come and we’ve put on a barbecue, and a shooting range upstairs. Lots of people are raising money for forces charities. It’s absolutely fantastic.”
Downstairs the bar was packed from 11am and upstairs a virtual shooting range was set up for the guys to test their skills.
Skip Huntley travelled from Tasmania to be at the event having once been stationed at RAF Wittering. He said: “It’s been absolutely great – even if I don’t recognise 99 per cent of the people! But there are some guys here I haven’t seen since 1978. It’s a long way to come for a drink!”
On Monday morning, all were invited for breakfast at Ged McKnight’s Fellows in Westgate. He said: “I think it’s fantastic. It’s good for the town too because a lot of the guys have been shopping and staying at local hotels.”
