For those not lucky enough to be there to hear the amazing stories of young bravery, a video has been created of the Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven’s Children of Courage Awards 2015.
Grantham-based company Cold Harbour Films have put together a wonderful video of the event at the Urban Hotel last Wednesday, which saw the courageous youngsters Peter Bowman, Ben Leonard, Chelsey Darby, Poppy Little and Steven Carter honoured.
Their inspirational stories were told in speeches by their teachers - Karen Salter of Grantham Additional Needs Federation, Grantham College’s Kim Ashbee, Priory Ruskin’s Anne Hill, Jane Etherington from Walton Girls’ Sixth Form and Kathryn Thulbourn of West Grantham Academy St Hugh’s.
The ceremony was led by President of the Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven and Rotarian for Youth Services Marion Strange, with awards presented by Rotary District governor Ken Billington, Mayor Ian Selby and SKDC Chaiman Reginald Howard.
The guest speaker was disability campaigner Matt Hampson, who received a standing ovation after the room heard how after an accident while training for a Six Nations game in 2005, he decided to ‘get busy living’.
