A WARNING has gone out to households in the Grantham area following reports of uniformed bogus callers claiming to work for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.
The men were wearing old-style blue fire uniforms, and claimed to be checking smoke alarms installed in the properties.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police urged people to remember that fire service employees will only call following a pre-arranged appointment, will carry identification and will be wearing the correct uniform.
The spokesman added: “Always check that ID is valid and, if in any doubt whatsoever, do not allow visitors into your home.”
Call Lincolnshire Police on 101 to report any suspicious activity.
