A village pub’s restaurant is back up and running after a devastating fire gutted its kitchen.

The Crown and Anchor in Welby is re-opening its restaurant today (Saturday) following the fire which destroyed the kitchen on May 19.

Landlady Sarah Igham had only taken over the pub a few months before the fire struck. The blaze was started by a fault in a fryer.

Sarah said: “It has been a really hard few weeks for us because your livelihood has disappeared. We are
only a small team here and it has been hard on all of us.”

Mrs Ingham worked at the pub for eight years before the chance to take over the business came up earlier this year.

Now the restaurant is up and running again the pub is taking bookings and has a new menu which can be viewed on its website at www.thecrownandanchorwelby.co.uk or call 01400 230307.
