Whilst I do not support the recent public sector strikes, I do support the workers’ right to take strike action.
To suggest that KGGS or any other public sector body should take action against strikers is irresponsible. The strikers’ gripe is with the government, not the management of KGGS, so such punitive action would be highly inflammatory and quite possibly illegal.
What I would like to know is what South Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire County Council intend to do with the money saved by not paying striking workers on the 30th November?
In Newcastle-Upon-Tyne the council allocated the savings to its voluntary sector budget. Surely such a show of support for the Big Society from SKDC and LCC would be appropriate?
