UPON reading the Journal (July 1), I could not believe that this town is in need of a foodbank.
We give more to aid than any other EU country – why? We are ploughing billions into two wars, millions have been spent on a Royal Wedding and the Pope’s visit, and please do not get me started on the cost of the Olympics, and yet according to the Foodbank project organisers, Churches Together, in this civilised society there are people who can’t afford to eat?
The Mayor of Grantham could give up his status and the £50,000 that costs, to help this cause.
I think this is a clear example of how charity should start at home, and it also shows how out of touch MPs are with the real world.
