Grantham Ambulance service

SO the final plan for the Ambulance Service goes before the Trust Board in January 2013. But are we to assume the present hit and miss service will remain or possibly get worse until then and even after. This comment is based on my own personal experience.

I was due to go home from Glenfield Hospital (where I had been transferred from Grantham, for a heart diagnostic procedure) at 5pm on Monday, July 23, but transport was not available until 11.30am on Tuesday.

This meant the bed not being available for cardiac patients waiting in Grantham Hospital for another day.

The transport was in fact a private car, driven by a volunteer to carry myself and two other patients from near Skegness.

Apparently this is by no means a solitary experience and with the Stroke Unit at Boston and Lincoln being updated, transport will be needed in the future from the poor Grantham relation and bed availability will be delayed.
