Have your say

I see from the Journal (September 5) that South Kesteven District Council is at last putting the plans on show for its proposed new cinema development in St Catherine’s Road. About time too.

If it is spending five million pounds of our money, it should be done properly. And, while the idea looks interesting, there are always plenty of ways things can go wrong if the details are not thought through.

But wait. Just as I was starting to think that SKDC could be getting something right, I see that the plans are only on show for one day. And it is on a week day. So, if you have a regular job, you will be unable to attend.

Is this a (slightly) devious plot by the council to ensure that no meaningful consultation gets carried out, while still enabling them to blame the residents of Grantham for not speaking up if it all goes wrong? Or is it simply the natural ignorance of a council that is run by and for the rich leisured classes, and it simply has not occurred to them that some people might not be able to attend? Frankly, either is possible with South Kesteven, but either way, it does not look good.
