IN reply to the letter from Robert Hearmon (Journal, October 7).
I notice that the only person to respond to my letter was an ex-mayor, which I feel speaks volumes about what Grantham people think of the public position which is a nice little perk for those that hold the post.
In reply to Mr Hearmon’s closing paragraph of his letter, that I might be persuaded that the office of Mayor is a valuable asset, I can be persuaded if it is what the people want and I see the town prospering as a result.
Let the tax payers of Grantham and District have their say, and remember it is their money that pays for it.
