Both sides defended well in the first half, leaving little to do for either keeper.

Lairds had the first of few chances when Eddie Jebb's shot struck the post, and the rebound was fired over the bar.

Jason Turner went close on 22 minutes but Lairds keeper Paul Whitfield was alert to the danger.

The Gingerbreads took the lead seven minutes into the second half.

Rob Norris fed Sam Mullarkey whose cross found Turner who finished from five yards.

Lairds went down to 10 men in the 64th minute after Ian Cooke was red-carded for head butting Town keeper Mario Ziccardi.

The home side equalised when Mark Reed scored from substitute Chris Nezianya's cross.

Lairds were down to nine players in the 88th minute when substitute Anthony Sheehan was sent off for dangerous play.

Grantham Town: Ziccardi, Fleming, Revill, McDaid, Gowshall, Dixon, Minett, Atkinson, Mullarkey, Turner, Norris.

Subs: Cann (for Minett, 76), Gilbert (for Revill, 90), Lowman (for Mullarkey, 90).
