National road race win for veteran Etches

GRANTHAM cyclist Phil Etches won the Alford round of the national Percy Stallard road race series on Sunday.
The 60-year-old veteran Witham Wheeler initiated a two-man break.

The duo were joined by a further four riders to form a race-winning move.

In the sprint for the line, Phil took decision by two bike lengths.

Following the race, he was presented with a suprise birthday cake by his fellow riders.
