Come on all you Grantham Town fans. The club needs your support more than ever as they go in to Saturday's game at home to Kidsgrove knowing a draw will put them in the play-offs.
CLICK here to send us your messages of support for the team and let them know you are 100 per cent behind them.

Town boss John Wilkinson said: "After what happened in January, I didn't expect us to still be in with a chance. When we went to Gresley and won, I knew what was coming with the 50 per cent wage cut. I expected our season would fizzle out after that."

The Gingerbreads overcame their hiccups with superb performances at home against fellow high flyers Sheffield and Cammell Laird.

Wilkinson acknowledged the influence of some of the senior players at the club. He said: "People like Brendan McDaid and Terry Fleming have been superb in getting everyone going and keeping them going."

With Champions Retford United unable to go up due to ground grading regulations, Grantham will be in the play-offs if they maintain sixth place in the Unibond League Division One South.

Rivals Colwyn Bay and Belper Town drew 2-2 on Thursday night, leaving Town knowing they need just a single point on Saturday to ensure they secure that play-off place.

The Gingerbreads face Kidsgrove Athletic at The Meres on Saturday hoping to record a double over their opponents. Kidsgrove may sit next to bottom in the league, but will give Grantham a hard test. The Gingerbreads won a tight game in atrocious conditions at the back end of last year.

With Jason Turner finishing the season in good form, Wilkinson is looking forward to the challenge.

He said: "In reality, we have a quarter final followed hopefully by a semi-final and final. I have said to the squad that it is a chance to do something not all players get to do.

"I have never been involved in play-offs before and I don't think many of the squad have either."

MESSAGES OF SUPPORT::

  • In a season of initial hope that looked likely to end like the proverbial damp squib, the Gingerbreads have somehow clawed their way back into real contention for promotion.
    A win on Saturday against Kidsgrove will see us into the play-offs so good luck to John Wilkinson and the lads. A big,noisy and supportive turnout from the people of Grantham would be worth a goal start so get yourselves up to the Meres for the last league game of the season...........and bring a friend!
    Kev Marshall, Harrowby

  • Go the Gingerbreads and best wishes to their supporters from my old home town.
