GRANTHAM Athletic Club has selected Ben Mason and Arthur Short as its representatives in the 2012 London Marathon.
For Arthur this will be his 16th entry to the prestigious event, his first being in 1989, whereas for Ben it will be his first.
Arthur is hoping to build on his excellent form in 2011 which saw him set veteran records in several races. He has already started a 24-week training programme with the aim of securing a sub-3hr 15min time which would guarantee him entry to future marathons as a “Good for Age” athlete.
Ben (pictured) has also started to ramp up his training again after scaling it back following his successful run in the autumn Robin Hood Marathon. Ben is currently aiming at breaking the 3.30 mark for the first time.
Also running in the London Marathon will be Ben Hatherley and Sophie Stanley who secured places via the public ballot.
