A trio from Grantham Running Club tackled the infamous Bullock Smithy Hike in the Peak District.

The gruelling challenge covered a minimum of 56 miles with more than 7,500ft of climbing, with competitors constrained by a 24-hour time limit. The race begins at noon when an anvil is struck and the 250 runners head off.

Even the very experienced Paul Rushworth found it tough having to complete the final 17 miles in the dark before finishing fifth in 9hr 30 min.

First-timers Ben Hatherley and Ben Mason finished well up the field in a time of 14:43 that included two miles worth of detours.
