A Grantham Running Club duo (pictured) gave a good account of themselves in the Sleaford and District Lions 10km at RAF Cranwell.
Dave Kay finished fourth overall in the multi-terrain event, recording 37min 49sec. Clubmate Abi Schofield completed the course as second quickest lady in 43.42.
Also taking part were six members of Newton Kites, several of whom were competing in their first event. All the Kites completed the course in under 62 minutes.
The Kites were Alex Randell, Viki Barnes, Hazel Molson, Anne Walton, Dawn Grant and Jenny Davies.
l GRC’s Gordon Geach and Emma Johnston competed in the Belchford Three Churches 10km race in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
Despite the hilly nature of the rural road course, Emma managed a personal best 48.59, not far behind Gordon who completed the run in 46.13.
l GRC’s Paul Rushworth was the town’s only started amongst 7,500 entrants in this year’s Sheffield Half-marathon.
Despite a delayed start, Paul still managed to finish in the Don Valley Stadium in a creditable 1.32.20.
l Grantham AC’s Arthur Short rolled back the years to record his fastest marathon time in more than a decade in the Milton Keynes event, despite running a 5,000m race on the track the previous day. Also running were three members of GRC.

l Much further afield, GRC’s Iain Brown made his marathon debut at Toronto, Canada, with a superb time of 3.27.42.
