Two Grantham Running Club members were among 2,000 runners who braved the wind and rain to take part in the North Lincolnshire Half-marathon.
Crowds of people lined the route and cheered the runners into Glanford Park, paying no heed to the miserable weather.
Andrew Pask was the first of the GRC duo over the line in 1hr 27min 50 sec, followed by clubmate Iain Brown in 1:28:34.
l GRC’s Will Parkin smashed the club parkrun record at the weekend in Peterborough, running an incredible 17:04.
Chris Limmer competed in the Stamford event, coming home in 19:29 and Warren Stark completed the Lincoln route in 23:11.
At Melton, six members took part with Penny Hodges crossing the line first with a new personal best 21:15.
Tommy Napier ran a 24:30, with Paul Durham less than a minute behind him in 25:01. Next was Daniel Dunstan in 28:11, with his mother Ruth just two seconds behind. Lisa Sharp and Gordon Geach rounded off the GRC runners with 29:54 and 29:55 respectively.
l Anna O’Hare was the star turn for GRC at the Langtoft 10km on Sunday, finishing third lady in a competitive field.
After a very fast start, Anna suffered mid-race with effects from her efforts at the Manchester Marathon two weeks ago. Nonetheless, she finished strongly to come home in a very impressive 40:24, which is amazingly Anna’s first attempt at an officially licensed road 10k.
First home for GRC was Matthew Kingston-Lee who, a week after finishing the London Marathon, had opted to try and help pace Anna and fellow club member Stuart Sinclair to a sub-38 minute clocking.
After Stuart slowed at around 7km, Matthew set off after fellow club member Will Parkin, who Matthew passed and pulled clear from in the final 500 metres to clock 37:23 and claim 13th position. Will was next home in 37:36 and Stuart was 18th, pleased to have taken four seconds off his previous best with 37:54.
Following Anna for GRC was Scott Jones, 44th in 42:49; Andrew MacCallister, 100th in 47:58; and Lucy Roberts, 155th in 53:38. There were personal bests for Brendon Buckley and Yvonne Taylor, who finished in 58:11 and 60:58 respectively.
l Four members of Grantham Athletic Club took part in park runs at Melton and Lincoln at the weekend.
Results: Melton – 23 Keith Measures 23min 23sec, 67 Matthew Dunstan 27:56; Lincoln – 88 Richard Hall 23:46, 260 Dona Hall 36:20.
Meanwhile, four Grantham AC runners competed in the Langtoft 10km.
Results: 18 Arthur Short 39:01, 83 Keith Measures 46:46, 104 Chris Hunt 48:28, 163 Phil Hall 55:09.
l Competing in the Veteran 40 category, Ropsley Road Runner regular Tony John completed last Sunday’s London Marathon in 3:12:23.
He was back in action at the Langtoft 10km on Sunday when he recorded 39.10 for 20th place. Clubmate Paul Jepson ran it in 52.12.
