ATHLETICS: Grantham runners stretch their legs in park events

Grantham Running Club fielded seven runners in Parkruns at Peterborough and Newark over the weekend.

Chris Armstrong ran a solid 20min 31sec at the Cambridgeshire event which saw 383 runners taking part, whilst six of his fellow club runners competed at Sconce and Devon Park in Newark.

Iain Brown finished in 10th place overall from a field of 182 with a great time of 20.55, and the first woman home for Grantham was Louise Payne who finished as the seventh fastest lady in 25.34.

Warren Stark put in a solid performance in 22.06, as did Kevin Baker who finished just a few seconds later in 22.25.

Wendy Hobson was the club’s second and final lady home in a time of 26.57, finishing as 12th lady.

Nick Payne completed the race in 31.52 for 119th place to round off a great day for the club.

l Grantham Athletic Club had three members in Parkrun action at the weekend.

Adam Madge returned to form with second place at Newark in a time 19.04. Keith Measures finished 30th at the same venue in 23.18.

Meanwhile, just down the A612, Dean Houlton finished third at Colwick in 18.56.

l A pair of Ropsley Road Runners competed in the Worksop Half-marathon road race on Sunday.

Tony Johnson completed the 26.2 miles in 1.29.15 and clubmate Nigel McDermott stopped the clock in 1.49.54.
