STUDENTS from Priory Ruskin Academy were amongst the medals in the Grantham and District School Sports Athletics competition at The Meres last Friday.
There were a number of successes in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions. Samantha Bradley won gold in the 100m with a personal time of 13.85sec in her qualifying heat. The Year 7 and 8 girls then stormed to victory in the 4x100m relay.
Jasmine Bailey competed in the shot put and won the bronze medal. This allowed the girls to claim victory in the Junior Girls’ Small Schools Team event.
The girls were not the only ones to achieve success in the competition. Kieren Raynor won the javelin for the Junior Boys, and Charlie Pirie took home silver in the Inter Boys. Jake Hornby ran a superb 3,000m to receive gold whilst competing a year below his competitors, and set an event record of 10:18.81.
