Polly Atherton and Sophia Tucker ran the Race for Life in Leicester and finished joint sixth, crossing the line together in about 23min 30sec.
The girls received 86 donations totalling more than £1,700, almost six times their original target of £300.
They are raising money for Cancer Research UK, in support of their mothers who have both been diagnosed with breast cancer in the last year.
One special donation came from BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Nikki Campbell who promised to help them over the £1,000 mark, after Sophia’s father rang into his ‘Your Call’ show.
Polly and Sophia would like to thank all of those who have donated so far, and for anyone who would like to visit their just giving page, the web link is www.justgiving.com/teams/pollysophia
