SIX hardy Grantham athletes braved sub-zero temperatures to run the Rauceby Ripper event on Saturday.
Starting within the grounds of Rauceby Hall, South Rauceby, the 8.5-mile multi-terrain course crossed trails, fields and roads. The frozen ground and bright sunshine made for good going but the rutted frozen tracks presented a challenge to the field of some 190 athletes.
Paul Rushworth finished 12th in 56min 51sec, followed by Stuart Sibcy 65:29. Keith Measures had a strong finish in 69:24, proving that his midweek speed work is paying dividends.
John Bainbridge 71:29, Bill Lord 71:38 and Wendy Johnston 72:55 completed a good Grantham turnout in tough conditions.
