Belvoir Triathlon Club hosted the first in their series of Go Tri events at The Meres leisure centre on Saturday.

The late afternoon aquathlon saw 45 competitors taking part, ranging in age between eight and 80. After the 200m swim in the pool, participants entered the stadium to complete between one and seven laps of the running track before crossing the finish line.

Go Tri is a fun and low key way to try triathlon (swim, bike and run), aquathlon (swim and run) or duathlon (run, bike and run) for the first time. They are reasonably priced, with manageable distances which have been created for beginners. The events are an initiative powered by Triathlon England to give people an opportunity to take part in multisport events regularly and at a minimal cost.

After the great start to the Belvoir Triathlon Club’s Go Tri series, they are offering everyone the opportunity to enter their next race on May 21 at a discounted rate of £4 per entry. No promotion code is required as Entry Central has a default setting of £4 applied. Closing date is April 10.

+ On Monday lunchtime, a group of Belvoir Tri members presented charity group Inspire+ with a cheque for £520 at Belton Lane School in Grantham.

The club raised the funds by raffling off a signed GB triathlon vest in support of Inspire+, a Grantham-based sport charity.

The charity serves schools in South Kesteven and wider Lincolnshire with an aim to improve the lives for young people through sport and healthy active lifestyles.
