Four Belvoir Tri Club triathletes took part in the Outlaw Half-Ironman event at Holme Pierrepont on Sunday.
Ahead of them was a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike, leg, finished off with a half-marathon run.
They were among 1,450 competitors who were roughly split into waves of 300 as they entered the rowing lake at the National Watersports Centre, near Nottingham.
Rain and chilly conditions were not helpful as the athletes went from water to bicycle, and poor road surfaces, with loose gravel and speed bumps, made for a less than ideal course for high speed riding.
Still dogged by rain and strong winds, the final two-lap running route proved too much for some as the conditions and total distance took their toll.
Pick of the Belvoir Tri quartet was Wayne Hacket who completed the event in 5hr 44min 27sec. Neil Baldwin was not far behind in 5:54:48. Alex Ferguson recorded 6:23:31 and Louise George 6:51:43.
