Division Two

Harlaxton 152 all out

Barrowby 153-2

BARROWBY got back to winning ways with a strong performance against Harlaxton.

Bowling first, the Barrowby strike bowlers began superbly with M. Veasey (3-26) and A. Green (2-45) reducing the visitors to 68-5. S. Sackey (3-37) continued the good work as Harlaxton wilted to 92-8, with P. Chalk (29) valiantly holding up an end under trying circumstances.

A stubborn last wicket partnership of 60 between a destructive A. Parker (43) and W. Leadenham ensured that Barrowby would have a fight on their hands for the points.

The Barrowby reply began in fine fashion with a sublime 108 run partnership between openers A. Barnes and L. Oates (24) as they made light work of what turned out to be a modest total.

Barnes carried his bat for a superb 92 not out, ably supported by G. Green (21no) as Barrowby reached the total with 12 overs to spare.

Division One

Belvoir 186-9

Barkby 190-3

BELVOIR won the toss and elected to bat on a well worn Beeby Road wicket.

An opening partnership of 68 between Keywood and Hubbard got Belvoir off to a solid start, the first wicket not falling until the 21st. over. The good start however was not capitalised on, Keywood apart, who went on to score a very well constructed 87, the rest of the batting fell apart with the second highest scorer being extras on 18.

James Kirk, one of Barkby’s juniors, was good value for his 2-37 off 10 overs. Jamie Drake took the first four wickets and ended his 10 overs with 4-36, and Ian Cooper, now approaching the veteran stage, took 3-32 including the vital wicket of Keywood.

Barkby opened with veteran John Pook and 15-year-old Conor Percy. Percy seized his opportunity to score a brisk 44 which included 10 fours. Pook then went on his untroubled way with Ben Kanizay who scored a leisurely 37 by his standards.

Pook with 76 not out, together with another junior Will Lakin (6no) saw Barkby complete the victory in 34.2 overs.

H. Forbes, D. Forbes and Lawrence with a wicket apiece were the only successes of the eight bowlers used.
