BALFE Motorsport's Shaun Balfe and Adam Derbyshire return to action for the second round of the VdeV Championship at Anglesey this weekend.

The Newark Glass-backed team will be hoping for better luck at the refurbished Welsh circuit than they had in the season-opener at Donington when they were forced to retire with gearbox problems after only several laps of the three-hour endurance race.

Repairs and development have been taking place to the Honda engined Norma chassis over the last five weeks and the team now believes it can aim for the podium at what will be a brand new track to everyone.

Shaun said: "We were obviously disappointed at Donington Park. But the pace was there as our practice times would have put us on the front row of the grid for the race.

"A couple of technical problems put us out of contention to go for a proper qualifying time and then out of the race itself.

"However, we believe that everything is fully sorted now and a fresh challenge at Anglesey should allow us to play to our strengths.

"The team has always been good at adapting to a new track and getting up to speed quickly. It's definitely something we are going to need next weekend.

New bodywork and some developments to the car should improve lap-times from this round onwards, with the car now up to full 2008 specification.

The team, along with the rest of the VdeV grid, will take to the newly refurbished and extended Welsh venue on Saturday morning for free practice, before getting down to business with qualifying later the same day.

The race takes place on Sunday afternoon, starting at 1.25pm and will run for three hours.
