Belvoir Cricket Club has paid a moving tribute to talented team-mate Euan Coulthard after his tragic death at the age of 19.
As a promising batsman, Euan, from Bottesford, progressed through the junior ranks right up to the first XI at the Knipton-based club.
A club statement said: “To be taken from us at such a young age, with a whole life ahead of him, is simply inexplicable. Euan was the perfect gentleman, popular both on and off the field of play. Quietly spoken during the game, Euan preferred his batting skill to do the talking for him.
“He was a sublimely graceful batsman with a glorious cover drive, an agile fielder and a team player able to read the game so very, very well.
“Euan will be dearly missed by everyone at, and connected with, the cricket club. We have lost a friend, a team-mate and a charming young man, whose wonderful, beaming smile was bright enough to light up the darkest of days.”
