FOLLOWING a successful 2010 season, Bingham Cricket Club has been nominated as one of three clubs shortlisted in the prestigious Nottinghamshire Sports Awards Club of the Year category.
As well as the on-field achievements of two promotions and a cup final appearance at senior level, development at junior level has been impressive with the assistance of new Level 2 coach Phil Ashmore and Level 1 coaches Daniel Cosgrave and Carl Smith.
In addition, the club’s work in schools, with eight partnerships created with local primary and secondaries, was highlighted as an achievement, culminating in work with Toot Hill School amongst others to form a new girls’ hardball cricket team.
Bingham CC chairman Steve Bateman said: “This is another great piece of news for the club after securing our Clubmark Award and following the incredible season we have just had. Whether we win the award or not, the recognition is a real boost for everyone involved with Bingham Cricket Club.”
The club will be judged along with Boots Hockey Club and Mansfield Giants Basketball Club ahead of the awards ceremony on February 21.
