Belton Park 224-5
Belton Park recorded a resounding 206-run victory with a clinical performance at Timberland on Saturday.
Inserted on a soft green wicket, Belton’s opening pair of Richard Cocks (39) and promising 14-year-old Callum Harrison, with a mature contribution of 18, worked the bowling around to create a solid base of 51 for the first wicket.
Will Helliwell then upped the pace with a rapid 27 before four wickets fell in quick succession. Belton skipper Dan Reynolds then proceeded to dismantle the bowling attack with an array of cultured strokes around and out of the ground, rattling up 90 not out in only 15 overs, assisted by Rohan Perera (20no), to take the game away from Timberland.
Pick of the bowlers was Eric Askin, conceding just 23 runs from his 12 overs.
There then followed an astonishing performance from Tom Ward as his accurate and hostile pace was too much for Timberland to handle.
Ward demolished the batting, taking the first seven wickets to fall in his return of 7-11 from seven overs; he may have gone on to take all 10 if he hadn’t had to leave early!
There was little respite for the remaining batsmen as the consistant Perera took two wickets for just four runs off nine overs as Timberland were dismissed for a meagre 18 runs.
