Witham Wheelers promoted the latest round of the Lincolnshire Cyclo-cross league at Stroxton.

The recent rain smoothed out the bumps of the field-based course and conditions were fast on the mainly rideable circuit, with a good turnout in all the races

The first race for 12-16 year olds over 30 minutes was also a selection race for the East Midlands team and was dominated by riders from the Sherwood Pines squad. First club rider was Robert McAndrew in 17th overall and seventh under-14, with Eleanor Crawford 22nd, 10th under-14 and sixth girl.

The 15-minute under-12s race saw a great turnout of youngsters who are currently learning their bike skills as part of the club’s Go-Ride programme. The racee was won by Cameron Nielson of Spalding.

Other results: Billy Reed 15th, Max Moore 21st, Archie Nicholson-Rands 25th, Lucas Kokocinski 26th, Richard Simpson 27th, Jessica East 28th (6th girl). Callum East 29th, Leo Moore 30th.

The final event for seniors saw more than 70 riders competing in the hour-long race which was won by Paul Cox of PedalPower by more a minute from George Thompson of Sleaford.

Best of the club riders was veteran Simon Cocker who overhauled junior Reece Egner on the penultimate lap to finish 40th overall (7th vet 50+).
