Keen cyclists Grant Neil and 15-year-old son Kieron rode the prestigious Lincoln Grand Prix sportive on Saturday, competing as father and son for the first time together.

Grant has been cycling for a while and has competed in events like this previously. He wanted to encourage his son to take up the sport.

Up until recently, Kieron had been karting and was doing well, but the funding dried up and he had to give it up.

Grant bought Kieron his first road bike a few weeks ago and Kieron has shown some promise and enthusiasm for the sport. So, Grant entered them both in the 59-mile division of the testing Lincoln event.

Kieron did really well and not only completed his first event but finished a creditable 140th out of 260 participants. He was also among the youngest to take part.
