Time trialling standards continue to rise at Witham Wheelers Cycling Club.

Five members rode the Rutland CC 10-mile event last Saturday and all finished well placed in the field.

Fastest was John Pilgrim in a storming 21min 30sec for a well deserved sixth place, with Rick Yates claiming 10th with 22.25 – one place and a single second ahead of clubmate Gary Symons.

John Beere finished 22nd in 23.27, with Tony Hardenberg (25.18) 44th.

l Sunday’s Lincolnshire Road Riding Assocition 30-mile time trial was reduced to 23.5 miles due to the Lancaster memorial event at East Kirkby airfield.

But that did not stop Witham Wheelers taking the team prize and Reece Egner first place in the juniors.

Results: John Pilgrim 53.45, Reece Egner 53.56, Rick Yates 54.33, Jon Beere 58.11, Hedley 59.39, Tony Hardenberg 1.02.25.

l Nine members of the Wheelers took part in the penultimate round of the Velo 99 road race series in dry and sunny conditions at Staunton last Sunday.

Paul Conneely was the first Wheeler to finish in 11th place, with Mick Egner 13th and Rob Johnson a further two places behind. Also riding were Dave Moulds, Phil Atherton, Tony Mendham, Mark Colclough, Gary Rands and Mark Kokocinski.
