Ann Williams spent two years as a housekeeper with the Doughty family at their home in Skillington.
She said: “They were a really nice family and he was fantastic - really down to earth.
“He was a family man and everyone who worked for them was treated like family in a way.
“I worked for the family for a couple of years and they were always really good to me.”
Ann said he will be missed by all who knew him, particularly villagers in Skillington.
She said: “I still go to Skillington and when you go into the pub nobody has a bad word to say about him.
“He was just a fabulous guy, really. I can’t say much more than that. Everyone you speak to about him says the same.”
“It was tough for me to believe when I heard the news that he had passed away – I can’t imagine what the family are going through, but I would like to pass on my condolences.”
