Grantham Town fans turned out in numbers to attend a special meeting to announce the club’s appointment of Barrie Pierpoint as chief executive at the MCS Centre on Monday night.
Club chairman Peter Railton introduced Mr Pierpoint and the former Leiceser City CEO gave an impassioned speech which outlined his credentials and his ambition to help improve Grantham Town.
Mr Pierpoint said: “I am a business champion. I will make things happen. I am going to spend the next three years going forwards.”
Mr Pierpoint said he sees it as a challenge and would give it his all. And if he should fail, he said “on my head be it”.
Also in attendance were Town’s managers Wayne Hallcro and Jimmy Albans, who were impressed with the new addition to the club.
Hallcro said: “We met with Barrie Pierpoint on Monday for the first time. Appointing him seems like a step in the right direction. He came across very well and we had our own meeting with him after the main meeting. It was a very open session with him. We got to outline what we want to achieve and how we want to get there.”
