Lord Harrowby 6
Griff Inn 4
LORD Harrowby came from two goals down to keep their title hopes alive.
Harrowby started brightly but a nice strike from Nelson put Griff one up. Harrowby searched for the equaliser but were caught on the break and conceded again.
The Lords pulled a goal back through Barry Payne. Two minutes later, Richard Payne crossed from the left flank for Lee Smith to coolly slot home the equaliser.
Payne put Harrowby in front and the lead was extended by Joe Clarke from the spot after Payne was tripped in the box. Payne’s cross-cum-shot gave Harrowby a 5-2 half-time lead.
Griff pulled a goal back from the spot before it was cancelled by man of the match Payne who rounded two defenders before smashing home to complete his hat trick.
Griff scored a fourth from a second penalty but Harrowby keeper Grant Davies pulled a couple of good saves to ensure victory.
Railway Club 3
RAILWAY started positively and tried to force the game. The first goal of the game came from a strong flowing move down the right hand side when the ball fell to Barker in the box and he lashed in a right footed shot into the net.
Thurlby failed to capitalise on some defensive mistakes and were made to pay when Marshall increased Railway’s lead with an excellent finish.
A defensive mistake from Daykin allowed Thurlby to pull a goal back in the second half. The goal was soon cancelled out when Thurlby’s defence cleared only for the ball to hit Weatherstone and rebound into the back on the net.
Railway held strong to take the points and continue their unbeaten home league record.
