I AM writing to thank the Journal for the excellent coverage of Grantham Town this season; we really appreciate your support.
On that subject can I also take this opportunity to remind your readers that our local team now have just five home matches left this season, four league games and a County Shield Final next Tuesday against Lincolnshire rivals Boston United.
On Tueday night we had our best attendance for a midweek fixture since 2007; wouldn’t it be marvellous if we could get our best attendance for a Saturday match this weekend when we entertain Coalville Town?
For those who have not followed our progress too closely, here are a few facts: we currently sit top of the league with games in hand on our nearest rivals; we have won our last 12 away games; over the last 26 games the record is: 22 wins, three draws and just one defeat!
Can I therefore implore inquisitive, former, and occasional fans to come along and be part of what promises to be a success story for OUR town.
It is not only the perfect antidote to the “let’s knock Grantham” campaigners, but I for one would be delighted if as many of you as possible jumped on our promotion bandwagon.
I can assure you that club chairman Steve Boam and joint managers Jimmy Albans and Wayne Halcro are working hard to take the club on to the next level, both on and off the pitch, and will not be satisfied until the club is restored to its rightful place in non-league football. Your support for that ambition is essential.
Chairman, Grantham Town FC Supporters’ Club
