GRANTHAM Town carried on their march for automatic promotion last week, harvesting four points from a possible six.
The Gingerbreads battled out a 2-2 draw at Sutton Coldfield Town last Saturday, and swept to a majestic 3-1 victory at Leek Town on Tuesday night.
With eight league games remaining, joint manager Wayne Hallcro warned that there could still be a few further twists before the end, but only had praise for his and Jimmy Albans’ squad.
Hallcro said: “We need to be focused right and keep our confidence levels high as individuals. I have never seen togetherness in a team and changing room as we have now. Every player has slotted in perfectly and they all want to be involved in absolutely everything.”
Albans said they were pleased with how the Gingerbreads had responded, bouncing back with an inspiring win at Leek after two successive draws.
He said: “If we had taken our chances, we could have had a couple of more goals. We have taken five points from the last nine.
“Leek competed very well with us up until 50 minutes in, but after then there was only one team in it.”
Grantham travel to Newcastle Town today (Saturday) hoping to avenge the 3-2 home defeat that ended their winning streak at the beginning of December.
Hallcro said: “We want all three points to get a step closer to where we want to be. Although we don’t know too much about them as a team, we will prepare right.”
