Grantham Town have been bolstered by the addition of the club’s chief executive officer Barrie Pierpoint to its board of directors.
Mr Pierpoint’s appointment as a director came as part of a reshuffle of duties amongst the back-room team last week.
Former Leicester City CEO Mr Pierpoint said that in his three months with the Gingerbreads, the club had already ironed out some issues and he felt the time was right for him to become a director.
He said: “I am confident with the way that things are going forward.
“ We are asking a lot of people in and around Grantham to back the club and I am 100 per cent sure that the club will meet its business aims, so had no hesitation in joining the board as a director.
“We have got a three year plan for the club to progress year on year.
“We know that we need to bring more finance into the club by using the facilities we have at The Meres to their best advantage. We also want to get more involvement with the business community in Grantham and also the community at large.
“On the pitch, the managers can only do the best that they can with the resources that we as a board make available to them. Within the next week we will be sitting down with them to set the budget for next season. It will be a realistic one within the plans that we have for developing the club off the field.”
Since Mr Pierpoint joined Grantham Town in January, a lot of work has been done to try and regenerate interest in the club from individuals and businesses as the Gingerbreads look to celebrate their 140th anniversary next season, when they are planning to host a number of events to commemorate the occasion.
Mr Pierpoint said: “The 140th season is a huge thing for the club and we know people want to be involved in that. We want to get people back supporting the club and look to ways at the club we can go forward and build on what has been done this season. We want to be better each year.”
Grantham Town club chairman Peter Railton said the board of directors had never been so strong: “It is an exciting time for people to get involved in their local club.”
